Emmetten

Emmetten ranks 7th of 11 municipalities in the canton of Nidwalden by number of parcels and holds 8.5% of the canton's parcels on 10.3% of its area. The median parcel in Emmetten measures 788 m², about the same as the canton median of 859 m². Emmetten is less built-up than the canton as a whole: 68.6% of its parcels have a building, against 74.3% across the canton.

The zones with the most parcels are Landwirtschaftszone (28.2%), Wohnzone W2B (18.8%) and Ferienhauszone (9.5%). In total, Emmetten uses 25 zone designations.

According to the building register, Emmetten has 1’041 buildings with 1’322 dwellings, 1.3 dwellings per building on average. Residential buildings mix single-family houses and buildings with several dwellings: single-family houses make up 54.6% of them. Non-residential buildings account for 36.1% of all buildings.

Built parcels most often have their newest building from 1961 to 1980 (27.8% of them), and 22.5% have one from 2001 or later. The median year built, 1977, is close to that of the canton as a whole (1981).
